About Us

The co-founder of GrillBillies Barbecue, Joe Pino, has been an avid barbecuer for over 30 years cooking on everything from inexpensive smokers to homemade ones to professional quality cookers. After competing for a few years in Kentucky the GrillBillies Barbecue Team got its start in New Jersey in 2007.

After enjoying the taste of success and relocating to Raleigh, NC he decided to open GrillBillies Barbecue, a one stop shop for everything related to barbecue, including a full line of smokers, grills, roasters and cookers. The retail store offers seasoning and sauces used by the professional Pitmaster along with smoking woods, tools and equipment. We also offer cooking classes and host events like cooking competitions. In addition, we rent out smokers, roasters and more. Basically, if you are looking for anything related to barbecuing, we can help you find it, whether it’s in our store or if we need to order it for you.

At GrillBillies, customers experience a personalized approach from the staff, who will take the time to understand each customer’s needs and match the best cooker to those needs. Whether you are looking for a gas, charcoal or wood burning smoker, or whether you are a newbie, professional Pitmaster or shopping for a gift for the grill master in your life, our staff can help you find what you are looking for and make recommendations to enhance your grilling experience. We love sharing our BBQ knowledge with you!

We are located in the Neuse Train Depot, a 100 year old station in North Raleigh that we restored in 2013. The restoration brought new life to the building, which has a country store feel, and is the perfect home for GrillBillies Barbecue.

Don’t hesitate to contact us about our equipment or with any BBQ questions.  We love to talk barbeque.

    Lard Have Mercy,

      Joe Pino

GrillBillies Barbecue is located in the historic Neuse Train Depot, a 100+ year old train station located in North Raleigh. The Depot served the once rural area called Neuse which was located along the then Seaboard Air Service railroad which is about .5 miles from the Neuse River.

The Depot was moved 600 feet from its original location on the south side of Durant Road to its current location on the north side 30 years ago. It was then used as a warehouse until the summer of 2013, when Joe Pino restored the building back to its original condition with a few additions.

The Neuse Depot is listed along with other train stations in various registries. Click on the following link to learn more http://pwrr.org/nstation/neuse.html.

Wounded Warrior Project

Joe and Sherry Pino, founders of GrillBillies, have been a supporter for the Wounded Warrior Project(WWP)for a number of years through their prior company Diamondhead Construction & Maintenance Corp. They carried that support with them to GrillBillies Barbecue.

Prior to their commitment to the WWP they supported Operation AC and Adopt a Soldier programs but found that WWP was more in line with their interest. GrillBillies has hosted 4 events in their 12 months in business and in lieu of taking payment for their barbecue they accepted donations to the WWP. GrillBillies matched all donations.

GrillBillies Barbecue is dictated to supporting these true Americans who have served this great country and have made extraordinary sacrifices. We hope that you feel same and will lend your support. Just click the banner at the top of the page to visit the WWP website.
